Solution

  1. Hamstring Stretch: This stretch targets the back of your thighs. To perform this stretch, sit on the floor with both legs extended in front of you. Bend one knee and place the sole of that foot against the inner thigh of your extended leg. Reach towards your extended foot with both hands. Hold this position for 15-30 seconds and then switch sides.

  2. Shoulder Stretch: This stretch targets your shoulders. Stand straight and bring one arm across your body. Use your other arm to pull the elbow of your outstretched arm towards your chest. Hold this position for 15-30 seconds and then switch arms.

  3. Calf Stretch: This stretch targets your calves. Stand facing a wall and place your hands on the wall at chest level. Step one foot back, keeping it flat on the floor. Bend your front knee and lean towards the wall. You should feel a stretch in the calf of your back leg. Hold this position for 15-30 seconds and then switch legs.

Health Benefits of Stretching:

  1. Increased Flexibility: Regular stretching can help increase your flexibility, which is crucial for your overall health. Not only can improved flexibility help you to perform everyday activities with relative ease, but it can also help delay the reduced mobility that can come with aging.

  2. Improved Posture: Stretching can also help improve your posture. Poor posture—a common and increasing problem—can lead to back pain and damage. Stretching the lower back, chest and shoulders can help keep the spine in better alignment and improve overall posture.

  3. Enhanced Circulation: Stretching increases blood flow to the muscles. This increased blood flow brings more nourishment to the muscles and removes more waste byproducts from the muscles. Improved circulation can help speed up recovery from muscle and joint injuries.
