Solution

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are the two types of cells that make up all living things. They have several differences in structure and function.

  1. Prokaryotic Cells: Prokaryotic cells are generally smaller and simpler than eukaryotic cells. They do not have a nucleus; instead, their genetic material (DNA) is freely floating in the cell in an area called the nucleoid. Prokaryotic cells also lack most of the other organelles found in eukaryotic cells. They do have ribosomes, but these are smaller than those in eukaryotes. The cell wall of prokaryotes is usually stronger than that of eukaryotes, and they may have additional structures like pili, fimbriae, and flagella.

Examples of organisms with prokaryotic cells are bacteria and archaea. For instance, Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a common type of bacteria with prokaryotic cells.

  1. Eukaryotic Cells: Eukaryotic cells are generally larger and more complex than prokaryotic cells. They have a nucleus, which houses the cell's DNA. Eukaryotic cells also contain a variety of other organelles, such as mitochondria, the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus, and lysosomes. These organelles are enclosed in membranes, which allows for compartmentalization of different cellular functions.

Examples of organisms with eukaryotic cells include animals, plants, fungi, and protists. For instance, humans are made up of eukaryotic cells. In the plant kingdom, an example would be a pine tree. In the fungi kingdom, mushrooms are an example. And in the protist kingdom, amoebas are an example.
