Solution

Over the course of this term, I have been exposed to a myriad of new concepts, strategies, and perspectives that have significantly enriched my understanding and approach to learning. Reflecting on these, the most useful strategy I learned was the concept of active learning. This strategy, which involves actively engaging with the material through activities like note-taking, summarizing, and teaching others, has proven to be incredibly effective in enhancing my comprehension and retention of the course content. As I continue my studies at UoPeople, I plan to consistently apply this strategy by actively participating in discussions, regularly reviewing and summarizing my notes, and explaining complex concepts to my peers.

The most surprising thing I learned this term was the profound impact of mindset on academic performance. I was surprised to discover that simply having a growth mindset, the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed, can significantly improve one's academic performance. This surprised me because it challenged my previous belief that academic success was largely determined by innate intelligence.

Regarding peer assessment, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about its effectiveness. I was concerned about the quality of feedback I would receive from my peers and was uncomfortable with the idea of my work being evaluated by them. However, over the term, my feelings have significantly changed. I have come to appreciate the value of peer assessment in providing diverse perspectives and constructive feedback that enhance my learning. I have also learned a lot from assessing my peers' work, as it has exposed me to different ways of thinking and approaching tasks. For instance, while assessing a peer's assignment on a topic we had both tackled, I was intrigued by their unique approach to the problem, which was completely different from mine. This not only broadened my perspective but also enriched my understanding of the topic.

In conclusion, this term has been a journey of discovery and growth. I have learned valuable strategies, surprising facts, and have developed a newfound appreciation for peer assessment. I look forward to applying these learnings in my future studies at UoPeople.
