Solution

i) LiAlH4: In this step, LiAlH4 (lithium aluminum hydride) is used as a reducing agent. It will react with the aldehyde group (CHO) in the molecule to form an alcohol group (CH2OH). The double bond (CH=CH) remains unchanged.

ii) H2O3: In this step, H2O3 (ozone) is used to oxidize the double bond (CH=CH). Ozone will break the double bond and form two new carbonyl groups (C=O) on each side of the molecule. The resulting product will have two aldehyde groups (CHO) and one alcohol group (CH2OH).
