Solution

We can say that all energy is really solar energy because the sun is the primary source of energy for our planet. Here are two examples to justify this statement:

  1. Photosynthesis: This is the process by which green plants, algae, and some bacteria convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into food energy (glucose) and oxygen. This process is the primary pathway by which solar energy is captured and used to support life on Earth.

  2. Fossil Fuels: Coal, oil, and natural gas, which are the main sources of energy for modern civilization, are all derived from ancient plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. These organisms captured and stored solar energy through the same process of photosynthesis. When we burn fossil fuels, we are essentially releasing the solar energy stored by these ancient organisms.

In addition, other forms of renewable energy like wind and hydroelectric power are also indirectly powered by the sun. Wind is created by the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun, and the water cycle, which drives hydroelectric power, is also powered by solar energy. Therefore, it can be said that all energy on Earth is really solar energy.
