  5. Formation of Bituminous Coal: As the process continues, the sub-bituminous coal transforms into bituminous coal, a high-grade coal that is high in carbon content and energy but low in moisture.

  6. Formation of Anthracite: Finally, with extreme pressure and heat, the bituminous coal transforms into anthracite, the highest grade of coal. Anthracite is shiny, hard, and black, and it is high in carbon content and energy but low in moisture.

This entire process takes millions of years and occurs only under very specific conditions. The result is a complex, carbon-rich substance that we know as coal.
