Solution

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) aims to provide financial incentives to developing countries. This is in addition to reducing emissions. The CDM allows emission-reduction projects in developing countries to earn certified emission reduction (CER) credits. These CERs can be traded and sold, and used by industrialized countries to meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol. Thus, the CDM assists in providing financial incentives to developing countries.
