Hi Luna I just wanted to let you know that I am not very happy with how my lesson finished with Phoebe Wang today. She turned off her camera at the end of the lesson when she was doing some written work. Towards the end of the lesson I asked her to read to me what she had written so far. She didn’t respond despite me also writing in the chat box. She then left the lesson without responding or saying goodbye. I understand she may be a little bored of having English lessons but she has produced some good written work. She does now need to spend the next week doing exam practice. Hi Luna Thank you for your email regarding Phoebe Wang. I don’t have availability to start this week but I could do Tuesday and Wednesday next week (9th and 10th July). Because I have had a number of lessons postponed to the week of 22nd July, I am also happy to teach Phoebe Monday-Wednesday that week (22nd July-24th July) if that is convenient. Lily drummed her fingers on the desk. Where can Cathy be? she wondered worryingly. Cathy had promised to bring the English project that had taken all month long to create. Now, Cathy wasn't here, and the presentation was going to begin in 10 minutes. She better be here soon, Lily thought.     Lily sought out Cathy for a partner when they were first assigned the project. Lily really wanted to work with Cathy because Cathy was an extremely hard worker and always received the highest grades. Lily needed a few of those high grades to get through the year, and Cathy was just the person Lily needed. They met a few times until Lily became overwhelmed by the amount of work that needed to go into the project. They needed to have an essay, a display board, a slide presentation, and a set of handouts.     "I really can't do this, Cathy. There's so much work to do, and I have other classes with homework," Lily had declared.     "You have the same classes I have," Cathy had said, a little taken aback.     Lily had replied with hints of flattery, "Well, I'm not as smart as you are, so I can't juggle all of these classes. So, you can just bring our project on the due date."     After that day, Lily never talked to Cathy again. It went well. I was assessing her reading comprehension skills. Zhaohan could read well, but her comprehension of certain words needs improvement for the IELTS. We can focus on improving this weakness. A key point for improvement rests on reading through a whole passage or paragraph without stopping on unknown or unfamiliar words. This will help Zhaohan better understand the wider meaning than specific words. She struggled with communication due to her limited vocabulary, but after assessing her I will use more simple language.
