Solution

(a) To find the percentage of adults who exercise regularly, you add the number of smokers who exercise regularly (6) to the number of non-smokers who exercise regularly (12). This gives you a total of 18 people who exercise regularly.

To find the percentage, you divide the number of people who exercise regularly (18) by the total number of people surveyed (100), and then multiply by 100 to convert the decimal to a percentage.

So, (18/100)*100 = 18%.

Therefore, 18% of the adults exercise regularly.

(b) To find the percentage of adults who smoke, you add the number of smokers who exercise regularly (6) to the number of smokers who do not exercise regularly (18). This gives you a total of 24 people who smoke.

To find the percentage, you divide the number of people who smoke (24) by the total number of people surveyed (100), and then multiply by 100 to convert the decimal to a percentage.

So, (24/100)*100 = 24%.

Therefore, 24% of the adults smoke.
