what is an embryo, grade 8
Solution
An embryo is an early stage of development of a multicellular organism. In general, in organisms that reproduce sexually, an embryo develops from a zygote, the single cell resulting from the fertilization of the female egg cell by the male sperm cell. The zygote divides inside the female's body to become an embryo, which over a period of weeks or months, develops into a fetus. In humans, this process takes about eight weeks. The term "embryo" is used to describe the early stages of fetal growth, from conception until the eighth week of pregnancy. After the eighth week, the term used is "fetus."
