Solution

Data refers to raw, unprocessed, and uninterpreted facts or details that alone might not make much sense or provide context. It can be any character, text, words, numbers, pictures, sound, or video. If data is not processed, it can't provide the information we need.

For example, a list of numbers is data. Without context, we wouldn't know what those numbers represent. They could be anything from temperatures on different days, to scores in a game, to the number of sales made in different months.

On the other hand, information is data that has been processed, organized, or structured in a way that it's meaningful and useful. It provides context for data, allows for understanding of the implications of that data, and helps in decision-making processes.

So, when we say something is just a collection of data and not information, we mean that it's just raw facts without any context or interpretation. It doesn't tell us anything specific or useful on its own. It's only when that data is processed and interpreted that it becomes information.
