  1. ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. It refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It includes the internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums. Advantages of ICT include global communication, cost efficiency, flexibility, and improved learning and innovation.

  2. A digital society is a society that is influenced by Information and Communication Technology. It refers to a society where internet, computer, smartphone and other digital gadgets are commonly used and the majority of the population has access to them.

  3. Digital divide refers to the gap between individuals, households, businesses and geographic areas at different socio-economic levels with regard to their opportunities to access information and communication technologies. It can be minimized by improving infrastructure, promoting digital literacy, making technology affordable and accessible, and promoting inclusive policies and regulations.

  4. Computer ethics refers to the moral guidelines that govern the use of computers and information systems. Five computer ethics include: respect for privacy, respect for property, respect for accuracy, respect for laws and social responsibilities, and respect for quality and standards of good conduct.

  5. Intellectual property rights are the rights given to persons over the creations of their minds. They usually give the creator an exclusive right over the use of his/her creation for a certain period of time. Types of intellectual property rights include: copyright (for literary and artistic works), patents (for inventions), trademarks (for branding purposes), and industrial design rights (for the visual design of objects).

  6. Cyber law is a term that encapsulates the legal issues related to use of the internet. It covers a fairly broad area, encompassing several subtopics including freedom of expression, access to and usage of the internet, and online privacy. It also covers issues related to hacking, copyright infringement, and cybercrime.
