La Solidaridad was a newspaper in the Philippines that existed during the Spanish colonization. The main purpose of La Solidaridad was to express and voice out the desires for reform within the Philippines which included equal rights as that of Spaniards, that the Philippines be made a province of Spain, representation in the Spanish Cortes, Filipino priests instead of Spanish friars, and freedom of assembly and speech. It was also used to enlighten the Spanish authorities and the general public about the injustices and abuses of the Spanish colonial government.
