Solution

The Internet layer of the TCP/IP model is responsible for accepting and delivering packets in a network. This layer is equivalent to the network layer in the OSI model. It provides the functional and procedural means of transferring variable length data sequences from a source to a destination host via one or more networks while maintaining the quality of service requested by the Transport layer. The Internet layer performs IP routing, network addressing and error control. It also manages the assembly and disassembly of packets.
