Solution

The tenure of a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India, is six years. However, one third of its members retire every two years. The members are elected by the members of the State Legislative Assemblies by proportional representation through single transferable vote. Despite the six-year term, there is no limit to the number of terms a member can serve.
