Jane has both a private practice and works as a counselor for an addictions agency. Lately she has not had enough time to complete her administrative duties and responsibilities for clients. Jane decides to give her clients her cell phone number in case they need to reach her, since it is easier to reach her on her cell phone. She tells clients to send her a short text if they are running late or if they need to be called for a particular clinical reason. Jane often makes referrals for clients from her phone and feels that using her cell phone saves her time This system works for Jane, and she feels she can better manage the administrative needs of her clients both in her private practice and at the agency using this technology.Shawn, Jane's boss at the agency, learns of her use of technology. He calls her into his office and tells her she cannot use her cell phone with clients from the agency. Jane becomes argumentative and explains that she is overworked and that using her cell phone saves her time. Besides, the clients appreciate her quick responses when it use to take days for her to call anyone back. Shawn explains that the agency is liable for the confidentiality and the agency cannot guarantee confidentiality on any counselor's personal cell phone. He is further concerned because Jane has had no professional training in use of technology for maintenance of client records. Again, Jane disagrees explaining the she is the only person who uses her cell phone and that it is password protected.

Dear Luna, I’ve spoken to Katy our Welfare manager. We feel Sophia has been improving and feeling more positive about her stay. She met Lynne our wellbeing and mindfulness coach and I think that really benefitted Sophia. Sophia is on our radar and staff are continually monitoring her to make her feel as comfortable as possible. I would rather not provide a phone in the evening as this can potentially upset children when missing home and have the opposite desired effect. It also then create challenges for other girls who want access to their phones. All the best, John Will check with those involved regarding Sophia. To clarify and reassure I thought she was improving, and when speaking with her briefly over lunch today she seemed okay. She has seen the nurse while she has been here and had a session with Lynne yesterday. Will check in with her later and get an update from Paige and Zaida. She is definitely flagged as someone who we are watching. Will keep you updated. 请用英文简短的回复John的邮件,很高兴听到Sophia越来越积极,非常感谢您和学校为Sophia 安排 wellbeing and mindfulness coach、nurse、并亲自与她交谈,让她更习惯在夏校的生活与学习!
