Question
Describe What is URL. Explain with an example?
Solution
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It is a reference (an address) to a resource on the Internet. A URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource connected to the web (e.g., hypertext pages, images, and sound files).
The URL contains the name of the protocol to be used to access the resource and a resource name. The first part of a URL identifies what protocol to use as the primary access medium. The second part identifies the IP address or domain name where the resource is located.
For example, the URL "https://www.google.com" consists of:
- "https" - the protocol (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure)
- "www.google.com" - the domain name where the resource can be found.
In this case, if you type "https://www.google.com" into a web browser, it will take you to Google's homepage.
