Solution

"Doubles" in Badminton is a game where four players are involved, two on each side of the court. Here are some key rules:

  1. Serving: The game starts with a serve. The server must hit the shuttlecock so that it passes over the net and lands in the receiver's service court. In doubles, the server starts from the right service court and serves diagonally to the opponent's right service court.

  2. Scoring: A point is scored on every serve and the side winning a rally adds a point to its score. At the start of the game, the server serves from the right court. If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the same server serves again from the left service court.

  3. Change of Ends: Players change ends at the end of a game and when the leading score reaches 11 in the third game.

  4. Faults: A fault is called in the following situations: if the shuttle lands outside the boundaries, if the shuttle is caught in the net, if the shuttle is hit before it crosses the net, if the shuttle is hit twice in succession by the same player or team, or if a player touches the net with their body or racket.

  5. Service Court Errors: A service court error is when a player serves out of turn, serves from the wrong service or receiving court. The error is not corrected, the player will then serve from the correct court according to the existing score.

  6. Out of Bounds: If the shuttle lands on the boundary lines, it is considered in. If it lands outside, it is considered out.

  7. Let: A 'let' is called by the umpire, or by a player (if there is no umpire), to halt play. It can be due to any unforeseen or accidental situation. The rally is then replayed with the same server serving from the same court.

  8. Continuous Play, Misconduct & Penalties: Play should be continuous from the first service until the match is concluded, with a 60-second interval during each game and a 120-second interval between the first and second games. Misconduct like delaying the game, verbal abuse, or unsportsmanlike conduct can lead to penalties.

Remember, the rules can vary slightly depending on the specific rules of the tournament or league you are playing in.
