Solution

i) The Christian Brothers, also known as the Congregation of Christian Brothers, was established in Australia in 1843. The first school was opened in Parramatta, a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales. The Brothers were invited to Australia by Archbishop Polding to provide education for the children of the Catholic poor. Their mission was to provide a Catholic education to boys, particularly those in need.

ii) The Christian Brothers have worked in various states and cities across Australia. After their initial establishment in Parramatta, New South Wales, they expanded their work to other areas. They established schools in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, and Tasmania. Major cities where they have had a presence include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Hobart. They have also worked in many regional and rural areas. Their contribution to education in Australia has been significant, with many of their schools continuing to operate today.
