What are sensors and actuators?

Sensors and actuators are two essential components in any system or device that interacts with the physical world.

1. Sensors: Sensors are devices that detect or measure a physical property and record, indicate, or otherwise respond to it. They can be used to detect a wide range of different phenomena, such as temperature, light, pressure, humidity, motion, etc. For example, a thermometer is a sensor that measures temperature. 2. Actuators: Actuators, on the other hand, are devices that move or control a mechanism or system. They work in response to a signal, typically an electrical signal, and can be used to control a wide range of different physical systems. For example, a motor is an actuator that can convert electrical energy into motion.

In a complete system, sensors and actuators work together to interact with the physical world. The sensors detect changes in the environment and send signals to the system, which then processes the information and uses the actuators to respond appropriately. For example, in a home heating system, a temperature sensor might detect that the room temperature has dropped below a certain level and send a signal to the system, which then uses an actuator to turn on the heating.
