Surface Epithelia:

2. Structural Features: Surface epithelia are composed of a single layer (simple epithelium) or multiple layers (stratified epithelium) of cells. The cells can be squamous (flat), cuboidal (cube-shaped), or columnar (tall and cylindrical).
3. Functions: The primary function of surface epithelia is to provide a protective barrier. They also have roles in secretion, absorption, and transportation of substances.

Glandular Epithelia:

1. Locations: Glandular epithelia are found in glands throughout the body. These include the endocrine glands (e.g., thyroid, pituitary) which secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream, and exocrine glands (e.g., sweat glands, salivary glands) which secrete substances onto a surface or into a cavity.
2. Structural Features: Glandular epithelia are composed of one or more cells that produce secretions. They can be unicellular (consisting of a single secretory cell, such as goblet cells) or multicellular (forming complex glandular structures).
3. Functions: The primary function of glandular epithelia is secretion. They produce and secrete substances such as enzymes, hormones, and lubricants.
