Solution

  1. Open your Power BI dashboard and select the dataset you want to use.

  2. Click on the "Report" icon on the left side of the screen to create a new report.

  3. In the "Visualizations" pane, click on the "Map" icon to create a new map visualization. This will create a blank map on your report.

  4. In the "Fields" pane, drag and drop the geographical region field (such as country, state, city, etc.) to the "Location" area of the visualization pane.

  5. Next, drag and drop the sales amount field to the "Values" area of the visualization pane. This will automatically populate the map with data, showing the sales amount by geographical region.

  6. If necessary, you can apply a filter to the data. To do this, drag and drop the field you want to filter by to the "Filters" area of the visualization pane. Then, specify the filter conditions.

  7. The "Funnel Chart" visualization type is not necessary for this task, as it is typically used to represent stages in a process or sales funnel, not geographical data.

  8. If your data is spread across multiple tables, you may need to define a relationship between them to create the chart. To do this, go to the "Modeling" tab and click on "Manage Relationships". Then, define the relationships between the tables as needed.

  9. Once you've set up your map visualization, you can customize it further using the "Format" pane. For example, you can change the color scheme, add a legend, adjust the map controls, etc.

  10. Finally, save your report to preserve your map visualization.
