The man is initially facing West.

  1. When he turns 45° in the clockwise direction, he is now facing Northwest.

  2. When he turns another 180° in the same (clockwise) direction, he is now facing Southeast.

  3. When he turns 270° in the anti-clockwise direction, he is now facing North.

So, the man is now facing North.
