Solution

The Vernier Constant (VC) of a Vernier Calipers can be calculated using the following formula:

Vernier Constant (VC) = (Value of one main scale division) - (Value of one vernier scale division)

This formula is derived from the fact that the Vernier scale is slightly shorter than the main scale. The difference between the value of one main scale division and one vernier scale division gives the Vernier Constant.

In most cases, the value of one main scale division is 1mm and the value of one vernier scale division is slightly less than 1mm. The exact value can be found by measuring the length of 10 or 20 divisions on the vernier scale and dividing by the number of divisions.

The Vernier Constant is usually a very small number and it represents the smallest length that can be measured accurately using the Vernier Calipers.
