Solution

  1. Click on cell B3 in your Excel spreadsheet.

  2. Type the following formula: =AVERAGE(B2:B31). This formula calculates the average of the values in cells B2 through B31, which represent the hours of sunshine for each day in January for the first town.

  3. Press Enter to apply the formula.

  4. To round the result to one decimal place, click on cell B3 again and then click on the Increase Decimal or Decrease Decimal button on the Home tab in the Number group until only one decimal place is showing.

  5. Click on cell C3 and repeat steps 2-4, but change the formula to =AVERAGE(C2:C31). This calculates the average for the second town.

  6. Repeat the process for cell D3 with the formula =AVERAGE(D2:D31). This calculates the average for the third town.

Now, cells B3, C3, and D3 should display the average hours of sunshine for January for each town, rounded to one decimal place.
