1. Describe POST, BIOS, CMOS and UEFI:

   • POST (Power-On Self-Test): This is the first process that a computer goes through when it is turned on. It checks the basic system hardware to ensure that all components are working properly. If the POST encounters an error, it will either halt the boot process or notify the user with a series of beeps or an error message on the screen.

   • BIOS (Basic Input/Output System): This is a type of firmware used to perform hardware initialization during the booting process. It also provides runtime services for operating systems and programs. The BIOS firmware is built into the PC, and it is the first software to run when powered on.

   • CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor): This is a type of non-volatile BIOS memory where information, like the system time and system settings for your computer, is stored.

   • UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface): This is a specification for a software program that connects a computer's firmware to its operating system. UEFI is expected to eventually replace BIOS. It is capable of doing everything BIOS does but in a more secure environment with a graphical user interface.

2. Configure the computer firmware:

   • BIOS Configuration:

     • Restart your computer and press the key to enter BIOS (usually F2, F10, DEL, or ESC).
     • Navigate through the BIOS menu using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
     • Select the settings you want to change such as Boot Order, System Time and Date, etc.
     • Save and exit the BIOS.

   • UEFI Configuration:

     • Restart your computer and press the key to enter UEFI firmware settings (usually F2, F10, DEL, or ESC).
     • Navigate through the UEFI interface using your mouse or keyboard.
     • Select the settings you want to change such as Boot Order, Secure Boot, etc.
     • Save and exit the UEFI settings.
