Solution

The geometry of NH3 (Ammonia) is a trigonal pyramidal. This is because Nitrogen (N) has 5 valence electrons and Hydrogen (H) has 1 valence electron. When they combine, the Nitrogen atom forms 3 single covalent bonds with three Hydrogen atoms. The Nitrogen atom also has one lone pair of electrons. This results in a trigonal pyramidal molecular geometry.

However, the H-N-H bond angle in NH3 is actually less than 109.5 degrees. This is due to the presence of the lone pair which occupies more space than a bonding pair leading to greater repulsion between the electrons. This repulsion decreases the bond angle from the normal tetrahedral angle of 109.5 degrees to 107 degrees.

So, the correct answer is:

d. Triangular pyramid but angle H-N-H is <109.5o
