a) As a computer scientist, you have a wide range of roles and responsibilities. Firstly, you are expected to design and develop software systems that meet the needs of clients or users. This involves understanding the requirements, designing the system architecture, coding the software, testing it, and then deploying it. You may also be responsible for maintaining and updating these systems over time. Secondly, you may be involved in creating and managing databases, ensuring that data is stored securely and can be accessed efficiently. Thirdly, you may be involved in network management, ensuring that the organization's IT infrastructure is robust and secure. Fourthly, you may be involved in research, developing new technologies or finding new ways to use existing technologies. Finally, as a computer scientist, you are expected to adhere to ethical standards, such as respecting privacy and intellectual property rights, and to contribute to the wider community by sharing your knowledge and expertise.

b) The key principles of conduct for a computer scientist are outlined by various organizations such as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE Computer Society. These principles include honesty, integrity, respect for privacy, and respect for intellectual property. Computer scientists are expected to be honest and accurate in their work, to avoid conflicts of interest, and to acknowledge the work of others. They are also expected to respect the privacy of individuals and organizations, and to protect the confidentiality and integrity of data. They are also expected to respect intellectual property rights, and to use software and other resources in a legal and ethical manner.
