Solution

In my professional life, one process that can be managed differently is the way I handle tasks. Currently, I tend to multitask, juggling several tasks at once. However, I've noticed that this often leads to decreased productivity and increased stress. Instead, I could implement a more structured approach, such as the Pomodoro Technique, where I focus on one task for a set amount of time, then take a short break before moving on to the next task. This would allow me to concentrate more fully on each task, potentially improving the quality of my work and reducing stress.

In my personal life, I could manage my time better. I often find myself wasting time on unproductive activities, such as scrolling through social media. To address this, I could set specific times for these activities, rather than allowing them to consume large portions of my day. This would free up more time for productive activities, such as reading, exercising, or spending time with loved ones.

In my academic life, I could improve the way I approach studying. Rather than cramming for exams, I could implement a more consistent study schedule, reviewing material a little bit each day. This would not only reduce stress during exam periods, but also improve my retention of the material.

I would expect these new approaches to lead to several positive outcomes. In my professional life, I anticipate improved productivity and reduced stress. In my personal life, I expect to have more time for meaningful activities. In my academic life, I anticipate better grades and a deeper understanding of the material.

These changes won't be easy, and they will require discipline and commitment. However, I believe they are necessary for my growth and development. By reflecting on these processes and considering how they can be managed differently, I am taking the first step towards making these changes a reality.

ASELINE REFLECTION GUIDE You are asked to think and write about the questions below and submit what you prepare as text to the 3012NSC course site (submission link via Assessment/Reflection Tasks). Self-reflection is important to learning, and to performing in everyday life (including studying, work, and personal life). Like any skill, it is something that we improve at with practice. It is very different from just "remembering" or listing things. Try not to write what you think I want to read. Instead focus on your own experience, expectations, and goals. You may not have thought too much about a course before you have done it before or about your career goals and things you can do now to develop employability skills, but it is a fantastic way to ensure your development and set yourself up to succeed. It also a skill that will help you prepare for employment beyond your degree (noting that many employees are asked to reflect on their achievements each year as part of their roles) while helping provide me with information that may help you achieve your objectives this trimester. For this first reflection task, you will complete a baseline reflection and that you will reconsider at the end of the course. While this reflection will not be graded it is required for the final reflection which will be marked (a rubric and final reflection instructions will be provided in week 8). NOTE: If you do not submit a baseline reflection and have it marked as being complete, the maximum grade you can be awarded for your final reflection will be 50% (5/10). Your baseline reflection must be 500 (+10%) words and must cover each of the following topics to be marked as complete. 1) CURRENT ID PERCEPTIONS Take some time to reflect on you current understanding and perceptions of infectious diseases. Do you feel threatened by infectious diseases (your response should consider infectious diseases in general, not just COVID-19) and why do you think this is the case? Do you feel you are well- informed about infectious diseases? What do you expect to learn in this course? 2) CAREERS GOALS AND NEEDS Take some time to reflect on your career goals and the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to achieve them. What knowledge, skills, and attributes do you need to succeed in your chosen career going forward? You might find it useful to gain some insights from relevant position advertisements, Griffith University’s graduate attributes or the information I have provided via our course site re employability skills, attitudes, and attributes (Course Information and Resources/Course Overview/ Weblink and Other Resources). 3) LEARNING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES Now that you have considered your career goals and the knowledge, skills, and attributes you need to develop to achieve them, consider what you can do to facilitate their development.
