Solution

System Design refers to the process of defining the architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and data for a system to satisfy specified requirements. It could be seen as the application of systems theory to product development. There are two kinds of system designs: high-level design and low-level design.

  1. High-Level Design (HLD): HLD explains the architecture that would be used for developing a system. It identifies the system as a whole and its interaction with external entities. It's more about the system architecture and the flow of data between various components.

  2. Low-Level Design (LLD): LLD is a component-level design process which is utilized for small parts or components of a system, in detail. It can be a database table design for the system or a class design for a specific module.

The goal of system design is to specify how the functions and features outlined in the system requirements are to be realized. It's a crucial phase in the system development process and forms the basis for implementation and testing stages.
