Solution

In Chapter 17 of "Things Fall Apart", Okonkwo is deeply troubled by his son Nwoye's behavior. He cannot understand how he, a man of strength and great reputation, could father a son whom he perceives as weak and effeminate. Okonkwo's analysis of the situation is rooted in his own personal values and societal norms of masculinity and strength. He blames his son's perceived weakness on his wife's family, particularly her father, whom he also considers weak. Okonkwo also blames himself for not being harsh enough on Nwoye during his upbringing. He believes that Nwoye's conversion to Christianity is a sign of his weakness and lack of manliness. This situation deepens Okonkwo's fear of failure and his drive to be as different from his own father as possible.
