Water is also reabsorbed in these areas as well as in the distal convoluted tubule and the collecting duct, the final parts of the tubule.

Secretion: In the distal convoluted tubule and the collecting duct, certain substances like hydrogen ions, potassium ions, and certain drugs are actively secreted from the blood into the tubule. This helps to regulate the pH of the blood and eliminate substances that are not needed.
The remaining fluid, now called urine, contains waste products like urea, excess ions, and water. It flows from the collecting ducts into the renal pelvis, and from there it is transported to the bladder for storage until it can be excreted from the body.
