Solution

The two-process model of sleep regulation, proposed by Borbély, includes Process S and Process C.

Process S, also known as the Sleep-Wake Homeostasis, tells you the need for sleep as a function of the amount of time elapsed since the last adequate sleep episode. The pressure for sleep increases every hour you are awake and decreases while you sleep.

Process C, on the other hand, is also known as the Circadian Process. It regulates the timing of periods of sleepiness and wakefulness throughout the day.

So, the main output of Process S is Sleep pressure.
