Solution

Epithelial Tissue: This tissue is found lining the entire respiratory tract. This includes the nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli. The epithelial tissue serves as a barrier against microbes, dust, and other particles that can be inhaled. It also helps in the secretion of mucus and the movement of mucus (and trapped particles) out of the respiratory tract.

Connective Tissue: Connective tissue is found supporting the structure of the respiratory tract. It is present in the trachea where it forms the C-shaped rings that keep the trachea open for air flow. Connective tissue also forms part of the pleura, the membrane that covers the lungs.

Muscle Tissue: Muscle tissue is found in several parts of the respiratory tract. In the larynx, muscle tissue controls the tension and position of the vocal cords. In the walls of the trachea and bronchi, smooth muscle tissue contracts or relaxes to adjust the diameter of these airways, thereby controlling air flow.

Nervous Tissue: Nervous tissue in the respiratory tract controls the contraction and relaxation of muscle tissue. It also senses the level of carbon dioxide in the blood and adjusts the rate and depth of breathing accordingly. Nervous tissue is found in the medulla oblongata (the part of the brain that controls breathing), in nerves that control the muscles of breathing, and in sensory receptors in the lungs.
