Define monsoon?

Monsoon is a seasonal wind in the region of South and Southeast Asia, blowing from the southwest between May and September and bringing rain (the wet monsoon), or from the northeast between October and April (the dry monsoon). The monsoon is associated with heavy rainfall and triggers a change in the weather. These winds are often very predictable; in India, for example, the monsoon season begins in early June and lasts until September. The arrival of the monsoon can have a significant impact on agriculture, as many crops in these regions are dependent on the rainfall.
