the first man-made element

The first man-made element is Technetium. It was created in 1937 by Carlo Perrier and Emilio Segrè. They discovered it after bombarding molybdenum with deuterons, which are particles found in the nucleus of an atom. This process produced technetium-97 and technetium-98. Technetium was the first element to be produced artificially, hence it is considered the first man-made element.
