Solution

Mosquitoes get infected with malaria when they feed on a person who has malaria. Here is the step by step process:

  1. A mosquito becomes infected with the malaria parasite (Plasmodium) when it bites an infected human. This is the only way mosquitoes can get infected with malaria.

  2. Once inside the mosquito, the parasites undergo development and multiplication in the mosquito's gut.

  3. After about one to two weeks, the parasites move to the mosquito's salivary glands.

  4. When the mosquito bites another human, the parasites are transferred into the human's bloodstream. This is how the malaria infection is spread.

  5. The parasites then travel to the liver, where they mature and reproduce. After a few days to a few weeks, the parasites leave the liver and enter the bloodstream again, where they invade red blood cells and continue to multiply.

  6. When another mosquito bites this infected human, it can pick up the parasites and the cycle continues.

It's important to note that not all mosquitoes can transmit malaria. Only female mosquitoes of the Anopheles genus are able to transmit the parasites to humans.
