If some of a liquid turns into a gas by evaporation, what happens to the temperature of the remaining liquid?

When a liquid evaporates, it is the highest energy molecules, or the hottest ones, that are most likely to leave as a gas. This leaves behind the lower energy molecules, or the cooler ones. As a result, the average energy level of the liquid decreases, which we perceive as a decrease in temperature. So, the temperature of the remaining liquid after evaporation decreases.
