From the information given, we know that the tallest person plays basketball. We also know that L is taller than H and K, but since L plays tennis, L can't be the basketball player. We also know that K and I don't play basketball. Therefore, by process of elimination, the basketball player must be either J or M. However, we know that J is the shortest and therefore can't be the tallest (and thus can't be the basketball player). Therefore, M must be the basketball player.
