Task 1:
Series Circuits: In a series circuit, the components are connected end-to-end, one after the other. They make a simple loop for the current to flow round. The current is the same through each component. The total resistance of the circuit is the sum of the resistances of each component. If one component fails in a series circuit, then all of them stop working.
Parallel Circuits: In a parallel circuit, the components are connected side by side, the current divides, but the potential difference across each component is the same. The total resistance of the circuit is less than the smallest resistance. If one component fails in a parallel circuit, the other components can still work because current can flow through the other loops.
Task 2:
Electric current is the flow of electric charge. The moving charges are often electrons. When electric current flows in a metal wire, it's because the electrons are moving. The battery or power source provides the "push" that drives the electrons along. The moving electrons can collide with the ions in the metal wire which can cause resistance. This resistance can cause the wire to heat up. The stronger the push from the power source, the more current there is and the more heat is produced.
